Things women are often told are normal… but deserve looking at

Many women quietly put up with things for years because they assume:
“That’s probably normal.”
Or:
“That’s just part of getting older.”
“That’s what happens after children.”
“That’s just my body now.”
Sometimes things are common.
That doesn’t always mean they’re normal.
Over the years, I’ve worked with many women who assumed they simply had to live with things because they had become part of everyday life.
Things like:
• leaking when coughing, sneezing or exercising
• pain around ovulation every month
• scar pulling years after surgery
• tummy tightness long after pregnancy
• hips and lower back constantly feeling tight
• digestive symptoms that never seem to improve properly
• needing to wee “just in case”
These things can absolutely be common.
But common does not always mean something you simply have to put up with.
Many women ignore things for understandable reasons.
Life is busy.
Children need things.
Work takes over.
Family comes first.
Sometimes women assume:
“Everyone has this.”
“It's probably age.”
“It's just what happens after having children.”
And slowly…they adapt.
The body adapts very quietly.
Women often start:
moving differently
avoiding certain positions
sitting differently
planning around symptoms
working around discomfort
Sometimes, without even realising they’re doing it.
And slowly…what started small becomes normal everyday life.
Not because the body is fine.
But because the body is incredibly good at adapting.
One of the things I wish more women knew is this:
Just because something is common…
does not automatically mean you should have to keep putting up with it.
You do not need to wait until things feel “bad enough.”
And you do not need to have everything figured out before asking questions.
Sometimes the first step is not treatment. Sometimes the first step is simply asking:
“Hang on…is this actually normal?”
Love always,
Dawn xx
