Pregnancy Massage

A tranquil treatment with benefits for pregnant women and new mums.

Pre-natal massage

Whether you’re expecting a baby or recently had one (congratulations!), you deserve some rest and relaxation. But pregnancy massage is about way more than R&R. This specially adapted treatment can help relieve muscle cramps, reduce swelling – and even improve the outcome of labour (scroll down to read more about the benefits). Pregnancy massage is usually given in a side-lying position, but thanks to my Belloost® pillow, you can safely and comfortably enjoy your treatment face-down.

In your second or third trimester, or recovering from birth and adapting to life as a new mum? Come for a pregnancy massage and I’ll help you feel calmer and more comfortable in your amazing, changing body.

Please note: Pregnancy massage is not recommended before week 12 of pregnancy. The baby bump is not massaged during this treatment.

Belly-down comfort, safely supported

Pregnancy massage is normally given to women lying on their side. This can be uncomfortable and less effective than a face-down massage. That’s why I use the award-winning Belloost® pillow. It’s a wonderfully comfortable, moulded, memory-foam cushion that’s designed to safely support you and your bump in a relaxing, face-down position.

•    Relief from muscle cramps and spasms, particularly in the lower back, neck, hips and legs

•    Tranquil relaxation and stress-reduction

•    Reduces strain on weight-bearing joints

•    Increased blood and lymphatic circulation (which can reduce swelling in ankles and feet)

•    May improve outcome of labour and ease labour pain*

•    Provides support for the physical and emotional strains of new motherhood

What are the benefits of Pregnancy massage?

*This study found that massage therapy is effective during pregnancy. The women who took part reported a reduction in leg and back pain and even decreased depression and anxiety. When it came to labour, the women who received massage therapy experienced ‘significantly less pain’ and their labours were an average of 3 hours shorter with less need for medication.
