What Is Visceral Manipulation?

You know how sometimes your body just doesn’t feel “quite right”, even when nothing obvious shows up on a scan or test? That’s where visceral manipulation comes in. It’s a gentle, hands-on therapy that looks at what’s going on deep inside, with your organs, ligaments, and connective tissues, and how they affect the way you feel day to day.

What Is It Used For?
Visceral manipulation is often used to help with problems that don’t seem connected on the surface, things like:
Ongoing digestive issues (bloating, constipation, reflux)
Pelvic pain, endometriosis, or period pain
Back or hip pain that just won’t shift
Scar tension after surgery or C-section
Unexplained pressure, tightness, or “pulling” sensations
Rather than treating these as separate issues, visceral manipulation looks for the common thread. Because everything inside you is connected, and when one structure is stuck, it can tug on everything else.
Why the Position of Organs Matters
Inside your abdomen, all your organs are held in place by ligaments. These ligaments attach to bones, ribs, vertebrae, or the pelvic girdle. So, if a ligament is tight or strained, it can pull on both the organ and the bone it’s connected to.
For example, a tight diaphragm can cause recurring back pain because the ligaments supporting it also attach to your spine. If the diaphragm isn’t sitting where it should, those ligaments aren’t happy, and neither is your back.
In women with endometriosis, the ligaments that suspend the uterus and ovaries can become pulled off balance: lengthened on one side, shortened on the other. This not only affects the organs themselves but also everything connected to them.
Could It Help You?
If you’ve ever felt like your symptoms are scattered and no one has looked at the full picture, visceral manipulation might be worth exploring. Whether it’s post-surgery recovery, period pain, bloating, or that mystery pelvic or back pain no one can explain, this therapy works with your body, not against it.
When everything inside is moving as it should, your whole system feels lighter, calmer, and more resilient. It’s amazing how often easing one restriction sets off a ripple effect everywhere else, less pain, better digestion, even an improved sense of energy and mood. That’s why I always say this work is about more than easing tension. It’s about giving your body the chance to release what’s stuck, restore its balance, and rebuild from the inside out.™
