Your pre-screen/full consultation/follow up sessions are private and confidential.
Your appointments will always be with a qualified, accredited and insured soft tissue therapist where you will always be treated with kindness, compassion and empathy. This is all about YOU.
All parts of your treatment (and homework!) will be at your pace. Wherever, you are in your scar recovery journey.
During your assessment, we will talk about your pregnancy and birth history and any other abdominal surgery.
We will talk about why you have come for scar therapy, any concerns you may have about your scar or the appearance of your tummy. We will also talk about the impact this has on your daily life and what you want to achieve from your treatment.
We discuss your nutrition, hydration, digestion, sleep, pelvic floor function, any incontinence or tummy gap issues. Alongside any medication/supplements you may take.
The physical bit
We complete a breathing and pelvic floor assessment (external work only). I explain why this is important and provide coaching to enable you to breathe diaphragmatically.
A visual and hands on assessment of your scar is next, highlighting any pain, numbness, restrictions or “that pulling feeling”.
As with your scar there is also a visual and hands on assessment of the rest of your abdomen. Nothing lives by itself in our busy tummies and you have grown a baby in there for 9 months.
This is a gentle and nurturing treatment, where we will work on the areas scar and abdominal that were highlighted in your assessment. It is a powerful and effective treatment that is not painful or intrusive.
I use a variety of soft tissue techniques to warm, soothe and smooth your scar and the surrounding areas. Adhesions are encouraged to break down, your lymphatic system is stimulated to remove unwanted debris, and encourage fresh blood flow rich in oxygen to feed the tissues.
A 360 approach
A 360 degree approach looks at every restriction, pain or limitation which may be connected with your scar.
Abdominal scar(s), especially when tight and/or restrictive, can cause pain or limitation in connected areas; such as legs, lower back and thoracic areas.
By using combinations of soft tissue release, fascia work, silicone cupping and instrument assisted massage I aim to relieve these issues during your session.
Homework
In between your appointments there will be homework to do. All homework is designed to accelerate and optimize your recovery. All aspects of this are designed around your everyday life.
I give full coaching, guidance & support with each aspect.
This is tailored or adapted to suit your needs, regardless of where you are in your recovery journey.
