The Heart Behind Sunshine

Why I do what I do, and the truth I wish every woman knew.
Why I do what I do, and the truth I wish every woman knew.

I didn’t become a women’s health therapist because it looked good on paper.

I became one because I *lived* the need for it — in my body, in my mind, and in my heart.

I grew up surrounded by women in pain. Not always the kind you can see, but the deep, chronic kind — the kind that goes undiagnosed, mislabelled, or simply brushed off. I watched how that pain affected not just their bodies, but their confidence, their relationships, and their lives. And as I grew older, I experienced it myself.

From years of severe digestive issues to an eventual coeliac diagnosis, to navigating endometriosis, fibroids, and two laparoscopies by the age of 32 — followed by a hysterectomy and an early, brutal menopause at 38 — I know what it means to live in a body that feels like it’s turned against you.

I also know what it feels like to not be heard. To be told, “It’s just part of being a woman.”

To be expected to cope quietly, keep going, and not make a fuss.

But I believe, with every fibre of my being, that this cannot be the answer.

That’s why I created Sunshine Holistic Therapy — not just as a clinic or a business, but as a space for women to feel safe, heard, and supported in every layer of who they are.

You see, healing isn’t just about easing symptoms. It’s about being *seen* in your experience. It’s about having someone truly listen — not just with their ears, but with their presence, their intention… and sometimes, their hands.

That’s something I’ve learned over the years:

👐 *My hands have eyes and ears of their own.*

They can listen in ways words can’t always reach.

And that’s often what’s needed most — especially for women who feel disconnected from their bodies after pain, surgery, birth, or trauma.

When you can’t explain what feels off… your body can.

And I know how to listen.

It’s not just the techniques I use — though I’ve spent years learning the most gentle, effective, and evidence-based methods for things like scar therapy, diastasis recti rehab, pelvic and digestive health.

It’s the *space* we create together.

Where you can exhale.

Be met exactly where you are.

And know, without doubt, that there’s a way forward.

Even before I became a therapist, I knew there had to be a better way.

A better way to treat pain.

A better way to understand women’s bodies.

A better way to support someone who’s been through something they can’t even put into words.

The body — *a woman’s body* — is unbelievably powerful.

It holds so much: life, loss, trauma, joy, memory, tension, wisdom.

And yet, it’s so often misunderstood. Dismissed. Treated in fragments.

Pelvic floor here, digestion there. Scars over here.

But it’s all connected.

And you are more than the sum of your symptoms.

That’s why I take a **holeistic** approach — not just treating one area, but understanding the way everything works together, physically and emotionally.

Because when a woman walks into my space, I don’t just see pain or posture or a postnatal body.

I see *her* — the full picture. Her history. Her healing. Her hope.

And from that place… the most incredible transformations happen.

Maybe you're that woman.

Maybe you’ve been quietly coping with pain that no one else sees.

Maybe you feel like your body changed after birth or surgery — and no one ever helped you understand why.

Maybe you’ve been told, *“this is just what happens as you get older”*, or *“you’ll have to live with it.”*

But what if that’s not true?

What if your body isn’t broken — just trying to speak to you in the only language it knows?

That’s where I come in.

Together, we listen.

We slow down.

We create space for the parts of you that feel tight, tired, numb or overwhelmed.

And step by step, we begin the process of relaxing, restoring, and rebuilding — not just your tissues or posture, but your relationship with yourself.

Every woman’s story is different — and that’s why no two treatments are ever the same.

At Sunshine Holistic Therapy, I use my **PACES framework** to guide your journey:

✨ *Personalised Assessment, Coaching, Education and Support* — so you’re never just handed a plan and sent on your way.

You’re supported. Informed. Listened to. Empowered.

And it’s all grounded in my four guiding values — the heart of what I offer:

**P U R E**

🌱 **Purpose** – because every session has meaning

🌱 **Understanding** – because your experience matters

🌱 **Respect** – because your body leads the way

🌱 **Empathy** – because healing starts with being heard

So if you’re tired of feeling dismissed, overwhelmed, or like no one’s truly seen you…

Please know this:

💛 You don’t have to do this alone.

💛 You don’t have to live with it.

💛 And you’re more than welcome to begin again — here.

*We all need a hand to hold in the dark sometimes.*

*I’m here to hold yours — and your body’s too.*

With warmth and understanding,

**Dawn x**
